Day 8  Nashville, TN (Music City)

Short drive today from Sweetwater to Nashville (165 miles). Arrived at the campground, which is on the outside of the city and very near the The Grand Ole Opry House in Opryland. Right now it is pouring rain and we have hunkered down in the camper. Tomorrow we are going to The Country Music Hall of Fame and The Ryman Auditorium. Didn't take any pictures today nothing really worth a shot. Quiet day, we slowed it down a bit and stayed in the campground, Besides the rain put a damper on it.

Day 7  325 miles

Left Cordele, GA and drove through Atlanta, GA on way to Niota, TN to visit our friends from my working days in Europe. They met Lucy and Cooper and made good first impressions. Left there early evening for camp.

We then camped in Sweetwater, TN. (Home of the Inland Sea)

Tomorrow we have a short drive to Nashville. today was an easy drive and tomorrow is even easier so we are sleeping later in the AM.

Days 4, 5 & 6

Day 4 Travel Day.
Drove from Falmouth, MA to Fredricksburg, VA. 525 miles. About 12 hours on the road. To tired to set up the camp so we stayed at a motel. Nothing exciting. 2 long traffic jams in Delaware and south of DC on I-95. So far 650 miles.

Day 5 Travel Day
Left Fredricksburg at 8:30AM and pulled into St. Augustine, FL at 9:00PM, Another long day. Tomorrow we leave early for home to drop off some gear and then drive to Georgia. (1375 miles)

Day 6 (Aug 5th)
Left St. Augustine before 7:00AM and arrived home at 9:30. (1525 miles) Dropped some gear, checked the house (everything OK), fueled up and left for Georgia at 11:00AM. Arrived at campground in Cordele, GA at 5:30. Cordele is known as the watermelon capitol of the world. We used to live near here in 1981 when I worked at the Americus, GA plant. It is still hot and muggy here and those damn no see-um flies are everywhere.

So far we have driven 1850 miles and for the first time we are relaxing. The AC in the camper works great. we are getting used to the tight quarters. Tomorrow we stop to see friends in Tennessee and camp in Sweetwater, TN. About 6 hours of driving.Then it is on to Nashville, TN.   (Average Fuel mileage so far 16mpg)

Day 3  Rained all day.

Had lunch at "The Cod and Bean" in Falmouth, MA. Tomorrow we leave early for Florida to drop of some gear and check the house before we start the haul up through the states to The Black Hills in So. Dakota. It will take us about 6 days to get there after we leave Florida. Hope to spend a few days in Nashville, TN and catch some country music.

Day 2  So far we have driven 135 miles. 

Woods Hole, (Falmouth, MA)

Great weather and good company with the in-laws.

Today we attended the Woods Hole Film Festival and watched a documentary on the Extreme Desert Runners. These guys and gals run 500k over 4 or 5 days in deserts around the world. You got to be nuts to do this!

Today is day 1 of our travels around the USA. We left Amesbury, MA @ 2:30PM and headed for Cape Cod, stopping for lunch in Plastow, NH for diesel fuel and a late lunch.  Good prices for diesel in Plastow $3.579. Arrived in Falmouth, MA about 6:30PM. Long day, it took a little extra time to close the camp and load " da Beast".  Sunday we plan to leave for Florida to drop off some gear and check the house. Then it is off to Nashville, TN for the ACM Music Festival. The pictures below are from our dash cam as we crossed the Bourne Bridge on our way to Falmouth.

Summer camp at Tuxbury Pond, So. Hampton, NH

Arrived @ Campsite on May 1st. Set up camp for the summer. It's been a little chilly but sunny.
